We spent the last part of January and the beginning of February studying penguins! Here are a few snapshots of what we did!

I realize penguins don't have fins....we switched it AFTER the picture was taken....
We drew and labeled a diagram of a penguin! Using a page we had done a few days prior, the kids learned to flip back and find the information they needed to complete the diagram.
We started out with a blank penguin at the beginning of the week. We put our schema (prior knowledge) up first and added to the new learning section as we learned new information. We also had to move a few items to the misconceptions area.
