Polar Express Day

We started the day out by listening to the story The Polar Express by Chris Val Allsburg.  Barnes and Noble had a link online that we could listen to the author read it!  All three kinder classes gathered in our room to listen to the story and we mixed the kids up and started our day with a group in each room.  Many different activites were done, but if you didn't have your ticket, you couldn't board the train and go onto the next activity!

We gathered after lunch back in our room to watch the movie.  The kids enjoyed being able to mix up into different groups and work with kids they haven't yet had a chance to work with yet.  The movie took up the whole afternoon. 

The kids were able to eat cookies that they had decorated in Mrs. Keyes room and drink hot cocoa during snack time.  

At the end of the day Ms. Dixie brought down a package that came in the mail! It was FREEZING cold!  The package was addressed to Perkett Elemenatry Kindergarteners, from the North Pole!!!
The kids were so excited to open it up!  Inside were SILVER BELLS!  The bells were VERY cold as they had come from the North Pole.  We rang them and we heard the bell, so we beleive!

Some of the other activities that we worked on were :

Marshmallows in Hot Cocoa Addition--the kids had to roll a die and see how many marshmallows to put into their hot cocoa then add them up!

Train keepsake--{my classes will be coming home at the end of the year in your keepsake books!}

Sequencing the story with picture cards

and much much more!

The kiddos had a great day and I look forward to Polar Express Day again next year!
